Sustainability

The way companies approach environmental management differs from company to company. At Australian Dental Foundation we have decided to strive towards aligning existing and relevant policies and procedures with the International Standard of environmental management systems (ISO14001:2015).
To this end, we are currently working towards achieving Certification through BSA’s Green Accreditation scheme, as a basis to obtain certification to ISO14001:2015 for our operations.

In short the ISO14001:2015 standard requires us to:

    • comply with all environmental legislation, regulations and other requirements to which our organisation subscribes;

    • strive towards implementing environmental best practice across our businesses operations;

    • not pollute the environment; and

    • continually look at our environmental impact – and improve!

This is not just a paperwork exercise, it requires our organisation to ‘think’ about the environmental effects of what we do and sometimes to change the way we do these things.

Simple things like:

    • making sure we separate our waste products and materials so that they can appropriately stored and be more easily re-cycled;

    • storing and disposing of hazardous materials in a safe and effective manner.

    • purchasing safer and less environmentally impactful materials and substances (where practicable); and

    • using utilities and fuel in the most efficient way and not wasting it!

From time to time we will review our environmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with changing legislation and other obligations to which our organisation subscribes.
